Overview
--------
This readme file contains information specific to the installation,
configuration, and operation of the Monster Sound II product under 
Windows NT. For hardware installation and general information about
Monster Sound II, please reference the readme.txt file in the root of
the installation CD or WEB-based download image.

Note: The following models are based on the Monster Sound II product
      family:
      - Monster Sound MX300


Installing the Monster Sound II Drivers
---------------------------------------
Before proceeding, please be sure you have installed the Monster Sound
II hardware into your system. See the readme.txt file in the root 
directory of the installation CD or WEB-based download image.

Since Windows NT4 does not support Plug-N-Play, you will need to install 
the drivers manually using the following steps:

   Install the Monster Sound II Software Utilities:

   1. Insert the Monster Sound II installation CD into the CD-ROM drive.

   2. The installation program should start automatically. Select
      Installation from the available options. If the installation
      program does not automatically start, browse the CD and double 
      click on the Setup program. Proceed with step 3.

   3. Follow the on screen instructions to complete the utilities
      installation procedure.

   Install the Monster Sound II Drivers:

   1. Click on Start->Settings->Control Panel.

   2. Double-click on the Multimedia icon, then select the Devices tab. 

   3. Click on the Add button, then select Unlisted or Updated Driver 
      from the list box. Click on OK. 

   4. You will now be prompted to insert or locate the vendor-provided 
      driver disk. Enter the path to WinNT directory on the Monster 
      Sound II installation CD-ROM or WEB-base image.

   5. A dialog box titled Add Unlisted or Updated Driver will appear.
      Make sure the Monster Sound II driver is selected, then click OK.

   6. A dialog box titled "Monster Sound II PCI Audio" will appear.
      Click on OK to continue.

   7. Once the drivers have been copied to your system, you will be 
      prompted to reboot. Go ahead and reboot at this time.


Removing the Monster Sound II Drivers and Software
--------------------------------------------------
Use the following steps to remove the Monster Sound II driver and 
software utilities:

   1. Click on Start->Programs->Monster Sound II

   2. Select Monster Sound II Uninstall

   3. Follow the on-screen instructions

   4. Click on Start->Settings->Control Panel

   5. Double-click on the Multimedia icon, then select the Devices tab.

   6. Under Audio Devices select the Monster Sound II entry, then click
      on the Remove button.

   7. Follow the on-screen instructions, rebooting the system when 
      complete.


Tips and Other Useful Information
---------------------------------
1. It is recommended that Windows NT4 users update their system with the
   most recent Service Pack release.


Known Limitations
-----------------
The following are known limitations in this release:

1. The A3D positional audio feature is not supported under Windows NT4.
   This is because hardware acceleration is not currently implemented
   in the version of DirectX that is included with NT.

2. Direct Sound hardware mixing is not supported under Windows NT4. This
   is because this feature is not currently implemented in the version
   of DirectX that is included with NT.

3. The secondary output is disabled under NT.
