Installation:
-------------

1. Now, the drivers are located in a floppy disk (i.e. Windows NT 3.5 Driver Disk)
   , after the steps of Section " Decompressing Drivers " in Chapter
   " Software Installation " of manual completed.

2. SAVING THE MICROSOFT-SUPPLIED DRIVER:
   Before installing the S3 Generic Windows NT 3.5 driver from S3, save
   the Microsoft-supplied S3 video driver files to a specified subdirectory.
   (e.g. c:\triobak) Assuming Windows NT 3.5 is installed in c:\winnt35 and you
   are in Dos or have the " VGA display driver " as the active NT driver, type:
        copy c:\winnt35\system32\drivers\s3.sys c:\triobak
        copy c:\winnt35\system32\s3.dll c:\triobak

3. INSTALLING THE S3 GENERIC DRIVER
   Now install the S3 Generic Windows NT 3.5 driver.  There is no oemsetup.inf
   file for this version of  S3's Windows NT driver.

   1.  Boot your system and enter MS-DOS from the Boot Manager.

   2.  Once in DOS and make sure your "Windows NT 3.5 Driver Disk" is located on
       a floppy drive a:, type:
           copy a:s3.sys c:\winnt35\system32\drivers
           copy a:s3.dll c:\winnt35\system32

   3.  Reboot your system and enter Windows NT (VGA) from the Boot Manager.

   4.  Launch Windows NT.  Open PROGRAM MANAGER\CONTROL PANEL\DISPLAY.

   5.  Select Change Display type.

   6.  In Display Type window, select Change Adapter type. In Select Device,
       scroll down to select model "S3 Compatible Graphics Adapter."

   7.  Click on Install.

   8.  Select Yes.

   9.  When asked if you want to use current or new driver, click on Current.

   10. Select Continue.  Click on OK when message is given that "The drivers
       were successfully installed."  Click on OK to exit.

   11. Click on "Restart Now" button to re-start Windows NT 3.5 with the new
       driver.

   12. When re-booting select the Windows NT boot option, not the VGA option.

   13. Launch NT and enter the Video Display applet again. Click on
       Change display type and observe adapter selection screen to verify the
       S3 driver is active. Click on cancel to return to Display Settings
       window.

   14. Select List all modes, and select the resolution (Desktop Area), Color
       Palette and refresh (Refresh Frequency) you want.

   15. Click on TEST button, then click OK.  Observe test pattern to verify
       color and flicker etc. are acceptable. Test pattern will disappear in
       a few seconds.

   16. If test pattern was not acceptable, click NO and repeat steps 12 and 13.

   17. Once test pattern is acceptable, click on YES and click on Re-start
       to re-start NT.

   Repeat the above process as needed.

