Overview

The WinPortrait Setup is used to install the Windows' display driver for your graphics card or computer with on-board video. You choose your default preferences for resolution, system font size, screen startup orientation, and rotate key combination. These preferences can be modified later using the WinPortrait Preferences applet installed in the Control Panel.

For selected video boards you may choose automatic refresh-rate setting. Selecting "MICROSCAN 17X" will enable the WinPortrait driver to set a high refresh rate automatically for some video cards -- see WINP3_1.TXT on disk 1. If you select "NO AUTO-REFRESH", your WinPortrait video driver will not attempt to set the refresh rate; you can use any DOS utility that came with your video board to set the refresh rate instead.

Finding Your Graphics Card

WinPortrait Setup presents you with a list of compatible graphics cards and graphics chips. If your graphics card is in the list, choose that selection. If your graphics card is not in the list but you know the graphics chip that is on your card or in your computer, choose the "Chipset" selection which matches your graphics chip. If you don't know the graphics card or chip you're using, refer to the Trouble-shooting section of your WinPortrait Software Installation Guide.

For a list of supported graphics chip sets, look at the WINP3_1.TXT file on Setup Disk 1. If you are using a non-supported chipset, then call Technical Support to find out the availability for a new driver.
