1. The ACCTON EtherPocket Network Testing Program - ACCTEST

The ACCTON Hardware Driver Disk includes a network testing program
called ACCTEST. Run this program to check if your adapter is properly
installed.

This ACCTEST program performs the following tests on your adapter :

	       a. Configuration Test
	       b. I/O Test
	       c. ID Test
	       d. RAM Test
	       e. Internal Loopback Test
	       f. External Loopback Test
	       g. Interrupt Test
	       h. Network Function Test

2. Test Requirements

To run ACCTEST, you need at least two	workstations, each with an
installed EtherPocket or any ACCTON Acc-10 Ethernet adapter. You
should run the program in both workstations, one after the other.

3. Running the ACCTEST Program

Insert the ACCTON EtherPocket Hardware Driver Disk into drive A:,
then type:

	       A:\> ACCTEST [/Q:x] [/I:n] [/T:y] [/M:z] <Enter>

[/Q:x] This is an optional parameter that specifies the
interrupt or IRQ number of the adapter.
Available values for "x" are 5 and 7.
	     EtherPocket uses IRQ7 as default.

[/I:n] This is an optional parameter that specifies the
	     printer interface port in use.
	     Available values for "n" are 1, 2, 3 and 4.
	     EtherPocket uses LPT1 default.

[/T:y] This is an optional parameter that specifies what
kind of medium in use. This parameter value can
	     detect automatically.
	     Available value for "y" are 1, 2. (1 => T. P.), (2 => BNC).
	     EtherPocket uses Twist Pair default
[/M:z] This is an optional parameter that specifies what
kind of printer port in use. This parameter value can
	     detect automatically.
	     Available value for "z" are 1, 2, 3. (1 => BI-Dir.), (2 => Uni-Dir.)
	     (3 => Enhance Mode.)
	     EtherPocket uses 1 (Bi-Dir.) default

-------------------------------------------------------------------
Note: You may ignore the optional parameters if you are using the
factory default settings of the adapter. Thus, to run
       ACCTEST, just type:

	       A:\>ACCTEST <Enter>
--------------------------------------------------------------------

3.1. When you run the ACCTEST program, a Testing Report showing the
result of each test conducted appears on your screen. The test
results are indicated by a 'PASS' or 'FAIL' remark.
The screen display on your monitor is like Figure 1.

3.2. The last test conducted by this program is the network function
test. When this test is running, the screen also displays the
Node ID, the number of packets received (Rx Count) and the number
of packets transmitted (Tx Count). The Rx Count and the Tx count
reflect the real network traffic.	The screen display on your
     monitor is like Figure 2.

3.3. The ACCTEST program automatically checks the error rate when
performing the Network Function Test. If the error rate is too
high, the screen displays a 'FAIL' remark. And for each 'FAIL'
remark on the Testing Report Screen, the display also includes a
description of this malfunction and suggested the best solutions
to you. The screen display on your monitor is like Figure 3.
