        D-Link PCI Family Ethernet Adapter Installation
                   for SCO OpenServer V5.0 MDI Driver

 Introduction
 
    This installation assumes that the adapter is working properly.
    Getting Started will describe the installation instructions.

 Requirements
 
     A PCI compatible computer
     A PCI Family Series Adapter
     A knowledge of basic UNIX commands and editing text files

 Minimum Skill Level
 
     A knowledge of basic UNIX commands
     A knowledge of editing text files
     A knowledge of UNIX basic file structure
     A knowledge of the network driver configuration being used
     Please see Support Options if you are not comfortable with this
      skill level


 Compatibility List
 
     Any PCI Family Ethernet Adapter
     For a Motherboard compatibility list please consult your local
      D-Link Branch Office

 Getting Started
 

0. Login as root user. (On maintenance mode)

1. Using "custom" to install the driver

    1.1 Prepare an image file

        Copy D5A.IMG onto SCO OpenServer and rename it to VOL.000.000

            # mkdir /usr/test
            # doscp a:/<PATH>/D5A.IMG /usr/test/VOL.000.000

              * <PATH> is the driver directory


    1.2 Execute "custom"

        /* A menu selection screen will be popped up */
        Using [->] key to move cursor to "Software" menu item then
        press [] key to get into pull down menu then move to
        "Install New..." then press [ENTER] key

        Select From scoopen and use [TAB] key to move cursor to [ Continue ]
        then press [ENTER] key and press [] key to get into pull down menu

        -> Select "Media Images" and use [TAB] key to move cursor to
           [ Continue ] then press [ENTER] key then press [ENTER] key
           again

        Using [TAB] key to move cursor to [ Full ] then press [ENTER] key

        After the installation progress the following message is displayed

        Press [Enter] key then you will find out that

                D-Link DE-530/DFE-500 device driver (ver 3.1.1)

        is added to the package list

        Using [<-] key to move cursor back to "Host" menu item then
        press [] key to get into pull down menu then move to "Exit"
        then press [ENTER] key

        Now that the driver is installed in the system successfully.


2. Using "netconfig" to configure the driver

   /* A menu selection screen will be popped up */
   At "Hardware" menu item press [] key to get into pull down menu then
   move to "Add new LAN adapter" then press [ENTER] key

   If you got a PCI NIC inserted on your machine, it will list as following:

   Using [] key to move to "D-Link DE-530 Family PCI Adapter" or
   "D-Link DFE-500 Family PCI Ethernet Adapter" depend on which card you want
   to configure, then press [ENTER] key.

   The above screen let you fill the information of where your PCI adapter
   is located by specifying PCI Bus#, PCI Device# and PCI Function#.

   Note1: If you can not make sure the PCI parameters or your PCI Device# can
          not be found in the list, just leave them as default values,
          continue the following installation, after the driver is installed
          and system is re-linked, reboot the system then driver will
          search PCI Ethernet card automatically.

   "Advanced Options" let you specify what media type is connectted.
   If you select it the following screen will be popped up

. Another way to modify PCI parameters is at booting
   time, shown as below:

   1. Specify PCI Bus#, PCI Device# and PCI Function#

       Boot
       : unix net.mdi=d5A(0) net.params=(pcb:0,pcd:14,pcf:0)

   2. Auto-search PCI adapter card

       Boot
       : unix net.mdi=d5A(0)


Note2: The IRQ number must match with the value set in ROM-BIOS before you
       specify this value, please check it.
       The IRQ for PCI bus can be accessed by pressing [DEL] key when system
       is power on and choose the proper select item to set IRQ for PCI bus.

       Example: ROM PCI/ISA BIOS (2A4X5C31)
                   PCI/GREEN FUNCTION SETUP

             Press [DEL] key  -->  PCI/GREEN FUNCTION SETUP
