NOVELL 16-BIT ODI DRIVER FOR DOS WITH
HP DeskDirect 10/100 PCI LAN ADAPTER

The Novell 16-bit Open Datalink Interface (ODI) driver for DOS is used with
many Novell products. DOS and Microsoft Windows 3.x computers gain access
 to Novell servers through either:

NetWare DOS Requester (using Virutal Loadable Modules or VLMs)
     NetWare DOS Shell (using NETX.EXE)

Both NetWare clients use an ODI driver to enable them to use the LAN adapter
to access the LAN media. File service to all versions of NetWare servers is
possible from either the DOS Requester or DOS Shell clients. Access to
enhanced services provided by later versions of NetWare servers may require
 using the DOS Requester.

Other Novell products, like Personal NetWare and LAN Workplace for DOS, also
 use the DOS ODI driver.

The DOS ODI drivers are located within the DOS directory, so that the
NetWare DOS Requester INSTALL utility can automatically locate the driver.

The contents of this directory are:

     \DOS\README - this file
\DOS\README.NET - installation instructions for DOS Shell
\DOS\README.VLM - installation instructions for DOS Requester
\DOS\README.WFW - installation instructions for DOS Requester with
			 Windows For Workgroups 3.11
     \DOS\HPFEODIM.COM - bus-master mode 16-bit DOS ODI driver
\DOS\HPFEODIM.INS - DOS ODI installation file for HPFEODIM.COM
     \DOS\HPFEODI.COM - I/O-memory mode 16-bit DOS ODI driver
\DOS\HPFEODI.INS - DOS ODI installation file for HPFEODI.COM
     \DOS\NET.CFG - sample NET.CFG file

There are two DOS ODI drivers contained in the \DOS directory:
The HPFEODIM.COM driver uses the bus-master data transfer mode of the HP
DeskDirect 10/100 PCI LAN adapter; the HPFEODI.COM driver uses the
I/O-mapped or memory-mapped data tranfer mode of the HP DeskDirect 10/100
PCI LAN adapter. It is recommended that users use bus-master data transfer
mode to achieve the highest performance of the HP DeskDirect 10/100 PCI
 LAN adapter.

If the HP DeskDirect 10/100 PCI LAN adapter is installed on a slot which
does not support PCI bus-master operation, then the HPFEODI.COM driver
may be used in that situation.
